Pingyaos polished lacquerware, an indigenous Pingyao craft, with a history of more than 1200 years, appeared in the year of Kai Yuan reign of the Tang Dynasty and was prosperous in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the lacquerware ranks first in Pingyaos rarities and, moreover, it is one of the four most famous lacquerwares in China.
